I had my CPMA service last night and decided to talk about Hebrews 12:1-2 with a focus on the second part of verse one "let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us..."
Talking about how a member who is weighed down with burdens not only slowly destroys their own spiritual life but how it also affects the church. Burdens affect our minds first. Our thoughts distracted from the message or song service or whatever it maybe. It affects our emotions- moody, emotionally unstable members are so hard to be around and work with. The affect continues to move down. It affects our eyes and ears we tend not to spend time in the Word like we use to. We aren't listening to the words of wisdom and anointing the Pastor brings forth and we probably aren't paying close enough attention to hear God's direction when we need it most.
You can only use Joleesa as a prop if you tape her mouth shut ~hehe~ I'm just kidding. When we are weighed down so much and our spiritual life takes an affect it will show forth through our speech. "Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh" Which then affects the kind of witness we are if we haven't neglected that too in our weighed down, burdened state.
As the burdens consume us it will continue to bind us up all the way down to our feet to the point we can't raise our hands to Praise God. Ever been in a song service where the hindrance can be felt? I bound her up to the point when I asked Joleesa to kneel down to pray she fell over and sometimes that’s the way it ends up being we fall on our knees because it becomes so much that it crushes us.
I went on to show how one members burdens affects other members. You pray for the person so much, you want to be there for the person so badly and see them through the trials and struggles that they are facing that their burdens become your burdens. So I had Micah pick Joleesa up and asked him to walk around the room... pointing out that we'll never be able to finish this race carring those type of weights. As it was Micah was only carring her a few minutes and he was starting to struggle. I told Micah to get rid of his weights and so he pretended to throw her down.
I had made up these little washers with the members names on it to represent weights. I had our pastor come up and placed them on his arms. To think if those were real weights he would be struggling to hold up his arms. Showing how the membership affects a pastor when we become weighed down with issues. Then how the pastor affects the overseer and how the overseer then affects the G.O and the dominio affect it has. The theme for CPMA has been Maintaining the Idenity and Heritage of the Church. How can we maintain the Church if we can't maintain ourselfs? At such a point when we can't even get on our knees to pray we've become completely unuseable to the Body of Christ.
I ended the service with having them write on paper their burdens not to share with anyone it was between them and God. The only way to get rid of the burdens that bind us is to burn them (Give them over to God) so thats what I had them do. Then we had a wonderful time of prayer. I gave them all their weights (washers on a string hehe) to remind them of what not to become.
I don't know about anyone else last night but I know that I got a good blessing out of it. Its really hard to do a service that applies so much to self or at least it was for me.
Just to let everyone know I was a nice sister and only taped Joleesa's mouth closed long enough to make a point.
We went to Applebees afterwards and I'll have to share those pictures with you later- I had way to much fun with my new camera :D . This got longer then I intended it to be.
I need to go get ready for my interview

Wow! That is a great visual demonstration. Thanks for sharing it.
Wonderful thoughts for your service and great visuals! It's so exciting to see our young people of TCOG being used by the Lord and holding leadership positions in their churches. I'm thrilled with the boldness and determination our young people possess. TCOG is really blessed to have young people like you, Jenna, your sisters and the rest of the youth there in Anchorage. Keep the flame burning!
Jenna, that is great...hmmm, now how about flying you over for my CPMA service Wednesday night? It will be my first...
lol- Jaclyn that sounds like fun to bad its like not possible. You'll do good on Wed. I'll be praying for you let us know how it goes :D
I'm one that trys to have a visual for everything. Sometimes I go over board and have to bring it down a notch.
Sis. Smith I want more then anything to be a blessing to the Church. The song that comes to mind is "Jesus use me" (did you teach us that at IYC?) I want God to use me however He sees fit.
Thank You Terra...I would love to come visit and even come to one of your youth conventions...I don't know that I could get up there its hard for me to do even here in our small church.
