Church History- I Love It!!

So last year it was the plane flying over Fields of the World  this year it was Bro Mcgriff. I love the glimpses back into the history. Now I will say I felt horrible for him there is no way that uniform was cool.

I always enjoy the FOTW service but I serious did not enjoy the ride up there. Which was sad because I was looking forward to the road trip. Either it was the car or just not being use to the all the driving. I got seriously car sick.

My dad (Clint McGriff, Melvin's brother) was the youngest White Angel Fleet pilot and dropped those tracts too...and wore a uniform like that. Made my mama swoooooon.

Although she was scared of flying he talked her into flying with him before they got married when she was 16. A pregnant cow charged their plane while they were taking off and crashed the Mississippi plane upside down in the Cleveland air field.

My mother didn't fly again until long after we were married...only because she couldn't drive to see her daughter in Germany! :)

A man from our church....his father was an older pilot and he flew on the mission flight that got lost in the storm in the Bahamas with no contact. Very scary, but God delivered through the prayers of the church.

SIs Washburn thank you so much for sharing that :-) I love hearing the history of the church and the accounts of the ministers :-) I truly enjoyed that :-D

One thing I left out.

Immediately after the plane crash, my grandfather (who just watched his daughter crash!) ....and my dad singlehandedly flipped the plane over and rolled it a few feet. The next day....6 big strong men couldn't budge the thing.

I found out yesterday that my ex-pastor's wife's father also was the oldest pilot. His last name may have been Grubbs. The one I know that was lost in the storm...his last name was Riddlespurge.
